Obituary of Ottavio Gualtieri
It saddens our hearts to announce the passing of our beloved father, Ottavio Gualtieri, at the age of 91. Surrounded at his bedside by his loving family, Ottavio died peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Ottavio was born in Figline Vegliaturo, Cosenza, Italy, on July 7, 1932. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Rita Carbone Gualtieri and will be deeply missed by his cherished children, Stella (Michael) Paola, Cristina (Adrian) Patru, Frank (Cindy) Gualtieri, Carla (Michael) Vancea. Nonno deeply adored his grandchildren, Christopher, Jordan and Nicole Paola; Anthony and Liliana Patru; Alyssa Gualtieri; and Micaela and Abigail Vancea. Ottavio is survived by sisters Mirella (Dante) Cundari, Aldina (Amadeo) Arnone and Bianca (Franco) Bozzo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Matilde (Alfredo) Greco, Rosina (Pino) Curcione, Vincenza (Giovanni) Cappello, Giulia (Amadeo) Gabrielli, Angelo (Anna) Gualtieri, Eugenio (Erna) Gualtieri, and Peppuzza (Eugenio) Giordano.
Known for his infectious smile, vivid storytelling, and intense passion for singing, Ottavio impacted people with his cheerful disposition, always leaving a room making others feel happier. His positivity, in light of many challenges, empowered those around him to always persevere.
Family and friends will be received at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Friday February 9, 2024. His visitation will be from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, with a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room until 3:00 pm. A private interment will take place for his children and their families at Parkview Cemetery.
