Obituary of John Clair McMahon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Clair McMahon in the early morning of Friday, February 9, 2024 at the age of 79 years after a lengthy illness.

 

Clair is survived by Carol McMahon, loving father of Elizabeth Ruth (Gerry) Fidler and grandfather to Brittany and Danika.  Also survived by his sister Rose (Bernard) Hanley, sister-in-law Elaine (Hugh 2021) McMahon, brother Lawrence (June), sister Ann (Bill 2016) McLeod, brothers Michael (Maureen), Gary (2013) (Patricia 2021) McMahon, sister Dorothy (Charlie 2023) Evans, brother Bryan (2015), sister Frances (Dale 2016) Melchin, brother Thomas (Noreen) and sister Colleen (George) Rees. Clair is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

 

Predeceased by parents Doris (2014) and Lorne (1979) McMahon, brothers Patrick (1962) and Dennis and Sharon in infancy. 

 

Clair worked as a painter for Twin City Painting, the Waterloo District Catholic School Board and at Mike’s Painting.  Clair took great pride in his work. In his leisure time Clair enjoyed going to Bingos, playing cards, the casino, listening to country music and spending time with his family. 

 

The family would like to extend their thanks to all those who cared for him at Derbecker’s Heritage House in St. Jacobs.

 

Family and friends will be received during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John’s Catholic Church, 85 Strange St. Kitchener on Tuesday, February 13, at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
