Obituary of Margaret Anne Winter

Margaret Anne (Peggy) Winter (nee Ball) passed away with family by her side at St. Mary’s Hospital on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at age 82.

Survived by children Patrick (Kathy) Winter, Missy Winter (Kevin Mcintosh), and grandchildren Brooklyn and Trenton Winter. She will be remembered by brother Ted (Sandy) Ball and dearest friend, Polly Hart.

Predeceased by her parents Melville and Margeurite (nee Helm) Ball, first husband of 27 years Marvin Winter, and her loving husband the late Allan Krynicki of 20 years.

Peggy was born in Toronto on July 11, 1941. Her family moved to Calgary and then back to Toronto. Peggy attended nursing school at St Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton. This is where she met her lifelong best friend and fellow nurse, Polly. Peggy worked as a nurse for over 50 years in both Canada and the United States. She enjoyed art in all its forms and was truly a gifted artist. Painting, sculpture, pottery, silversmithing, weaving, knitting, photography, and stained glass, just to name a few. She was a gardener and forever collecting nature that she transformed into beautiful wreaths, centre pieces, wall hangings, and walking sticks which adorned her walls. Other interests included scuba diving, sailing, golf, and of course driving fast - she really liked that. But this paled in comparison to her deep and eternal love for her husband Allan and her two grandchildren. Peggy will be deeply missed.

Special thanks to The Court at Laurelwood, Aspira Doon Village, and St Mary's Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
