Born on Dec. 12, 1962 to Dr. Angus and Mrs. Evelyn Bennett in London, England. Died Feb. 15, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Before coming to Canada, Stuart enjoyed countless overseas adventures as the son of an army doctor. Doubtless his baby blues decorate many a photo album in Hong Kong. Returning to Europe, his childhood was enriched by the presence of his loving Scottish family.

Stuart attended London Baptist Bible College, the University of Western Ontario, and obtained a Master of Theology degree from Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto. Although the study of theology remained a life-long passion for Stuart, it was the world of finance that became the focus of his career. Over the course of almost 32 years Stuart built a flourishing business as an investment advisor in Kitchener-Waterloo and the surrounding area. Stuart spent many hours on the road travelling to the cities and homes of his clients, getting to know them as friends and fellow sojourners in life, as well as being their dependable guide to investing.

Loved by family, friends, and clients alike for his sense of humour and wit, Stuart enjoyed sharing life with people. Though not known for his punctuality he was generous with his time, especially when shared over coffee or dessert. His Christian faith was evidenced through his many years of service at various churches, his involvement in Life Groups, and his daily approach to life. Even during his long battle with cancer, his faith never wavered.

Stuart had numerous hobbies and special interests, including reading, writing, videography and travelling, even if only through his flight simulator. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and considered himself an honorary Ecuadorian. For many years Stuart travelled to Quito, Ecuador making new friends and investing in those he loved there. He also fell in love with the culture, the food, and the beautiful mountains.

Married to Barbara Bennett on May 7, 1983, he cherished the nearly 41 years of marriage they shared and the life they built together. Stuart was a proud father to his three children Stephen, Rachel and Sarah and his son-in-law Alex. Watching them grow up and pursue their dreams was one of his greatest joys, especially as they brought Amy and Roland into his life. He loved his sister Fiona and her husband Evan, and deeply valued the bond that he shared with his parents. His relationships with his parents-in-law, sisters-, and brothers-in-law were very important to him. Stuart’s Gourmet family brought good food, great laughs, and unconditional support throughout his life.
