Obituary of Mary Bowman

Mary Carol Bowman (nee Schefter) passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 14, 2024 at Trinity Village Care Centre at age 91.

Mary will be dearly missed by sons Paul (Joanne Connolly), Michael (Soo Luen Tom) and grandchildren Sophia and Jed. She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by parents Alvin and Hilda (nee Weber) Schefter, sisters Alvena, Florence, and Elaine.

Mary worked for Colour Your World for 15 years before retiring. She enjoyed painting, and created beautiful landscape scenes in oil paint. She was a profound knitter, creating many items, even clothing and more than a few special pairs of mittens for her boys. Mary enjoyed spending time outdoors with family, even taking up cross country skiing in her 50’s where she enjoyed trails with her sons. She enjoyed traveling, often going to Florida to visit with her sisters and their families.

As a mom she was incredibly supportive, always believing in her sons’ dreams. She was a mom to all of her sons’ friends, always having a place for them to gather, playing card and board games.

Special thanks to the staff at Trinity Village Care Centre for the care and compassion they’ve shown Mary and her family.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., on Thursday February 22, 2024 from 5-9 p.m.  The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo, on Friday February 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. A time for refreshment in the church hall will follow. Cremation will have taken place, and a private family interment will follow at a later date.
