Obituary of Mary Margaret Newland

It is with profound sorrow that we announce that on February 20, 2024, angels came and took our beloved mother, Mary Margaret Newland, home to be with her Eternal Father in Heaven. She passed away at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo, Ontario, surrounded by loving family and staff.

Mary was in her 98^th year and lived a full and rich life. She enjoyed gardening, baking, travel, and most of all she loved spending time with family. Mom and Dad took many vacations and always came back with many funny stories to share.  She also loved to share her stories of growing up in rural Saskatchewan as the youngest of 9 siblings: 6 boys and 3 girls.

It is impossible to express how much love Mom had for her family and how much love we have for Mom. She was an angel on Earth and will forever be deeply loved and cherished. 

She is predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Francis Lee Newland. She leaves behind five children: Arnold, Robert, Sherry, Ronald, and Larry; nine grandchildren: Scott, Erik, Christopher, Mckenzie, Connor, Sarah, Jessica, Cassandra and Christian; and seven great-grandchildren: Riley, Leo, AnnaLynne, Charlotte, Isabelle, Saphina, and Andrew.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Thomas, Ontario, on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. EST, with a reception to follow in the church hall.

Mom was blessed by a remarkable, caring team at Parkwood Mennonite Home and we thank them all for their compassionate care.
