It is with broken hearts we share that Dennis Bailey of Grand Bend, ON, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the age of 74.
Known affectionately around town as "Mr. Bailey", he couldn't go anywhere without being recognized by the many students he taught and players he coached throughout his years teaching at Forest Heights and Bluevale Secondary Schools. He was so proud of all of his students, but he was the most proud of his family.
He was a loving husband to his wife of 42 years, Kristine (Kris). And a very proud father and Poppa to his daughter Julie, her husband Joe, their two sons Ignatius & Vale; and his son Tom, his wife Kelly, and their three daughters Nora, Katie & Hazel.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Fritz (1978) & Thelma (1976) and his brother Bruce (1991), all of Hanover. We know he had a few loyal dogs waiting anxiously for him at the pearly gates, too.
Dennis lived a full life. He spent time in both Canada and Australia with his wife, Kris, and children Julie and Tom. You could always count on Dennis to lend a helping hand if you needed it. He was the ultimate MacGyver and always had a solution up his sleeve.
He surrounded himself with great friends whom he and Kris loved traveling the world with, meeting for coffee most mornings, taking road trips up to New Liskeard, and cheering on their favourite Kitchener Rangers, where he rarely missed a game. He had a passion for photography, and loved to watch nature, from birds in the garden to the sunset at Grand Bend beach.
Dennis loved spending as much time as possible with all of his grandbabies. The screams of "POPPA" would ring in our ears whenever he came in the door. A true testament to who he was. There will forever be a Poppa-sized hole in our hearts.
Two visitations will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 2-4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, March 1 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room. Cremation will have taken place and a private family interment will be held.
A livestream and recording of the service will be made available on Dennis' tribute page at www.erbgood.com
