Iva peacefully left us on Saturday March 10, 2024 at the age of 89. She was ready to join the love of her life and soul mate, Bob Mader (deceased 2022).

No one loved their family more than Iva and she was a constant source of love and support for her children Don (Linda, late Louise), Cheryl (Jeff, late Jim Rose), Doug (late Connie), Rob and Valerie as well as her 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Remembered by her sisters Norma Lounsbury (Bob), Meryl Newmaster (Ron), sister-in-law Jane Sherk, brother-in-law Richard (Sherry) and our Aussie family member PA Luxton. Predeceased by her parents Ruby and Ernest Lucas, brother Vernon and sister Shirley Honsaker (Dave).

Iva was born in Lion’s Head where her father was a minister. She moved with her family to many different parishes including Hespeler where she met Bob at a hockey game. They married and farmed in Breslau. Iva was active in the community and was a life long member of the Women’s Institute and the Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church. Iva was a talented baker and was well known for her apple and pumpkin pies. In the fall she preserved the bounty of the vegetable garden and in the spring she tapped maple trees and made syrup. Every holiday Iva and Bob hosted a family dinner at the farm where the whole clan congregated for good food, conversation and games. Iva actively supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their endeavours and was seen in the stands at sports events, dance recitals, singing competitions, plays and art shows. Iva made everyone feel welcome at the farm and it was a warm and loving environment for family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at the Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church, 102 Woolwich Street, Breslau, with a reception to follow on Saturday March 23 at 2:00. Condolences for the family and donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Breslau Evangelical Missionary church (in lieu of flowers) may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or by calling 519-745-8445.
