John was a constant for me during the many years I cared for my Mom at University Gates.
Every day, John would greet me, in the hallway, the dining room, the common room or from his own room.
Each day was made more special by John.
He genuinely listened. We shared many laughs together and always spoke of the current state of the world. His newspaper always close at hand.
How special to have met such a lovely gentleman.

I met John more than fifty years ago as a colleague of my late husband (who simply called him “Moffat.”) I remember his office in the old days where every available inch of floor space was covered by stacks of paper that would have made even the sloppiest of fire chiefs flinch. Over the years I was fortunate to meet up with both John and Eleanor at many university functions, and at other off-campus soirees such as in a local pub.
To me, John will be forever the person in the photo, radiating warmth, mischievousness, and endless good humour. He will be sorely missed by the family to which he was always devoted …… and to which I send my deepest sympathy.

To the entire Moffat Family:
After 43 years working in the department, I can honestly say Dr. John Moffat was one of my favourite professors to work for…..he was always kind and pleasant, with a smile on his face and always very appreciative. Since we were both born/raised in Owen Sound, we would chat about what was new in the big city and often it was over a donut from Norris Bakery…toasted coconut I believe was a favourite!
He truly was a delight to work for…..some very fond memories for me. He was definitely one of the good guys!
With my most sincere sympathies to you all.

John was a delightful colleague who as a Chemist would serve on several of our PhD students' thesis committees in Chemical Engineering. He brought enlightenment to the technical side of our work as well as lightening the social side as well with his own personable charm. Great guy.;so sorry to see him go. My condolences to his family.
Rest in peace, John.

Professor John Moffat was one of the colleagues that spark a pleasure whenever me met. The short chats added a layer of icing on a cake of pleasure. I missed him for decades since his retirement and my retirement, but did not find a way of contact. I missed his smile and kindness. Meantime, I quietly wished him well.
Saddened from seeing the news of his passing, I whish all members of his extended family well,
