Obituary of Bernard Wallace Lawler

 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bernard “Bernie” Lawler on March 19, 2024 at Waterloo Hospice, with his family by his side.

 

Bernie is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Kathleen Lawler (nee Knight), and his loving children: Barbara Parker (Ken), Patricia Lawler (Adrian), Dan Wilson (Barb), Sean Lawler and Brett Lawler.

 

Bernie was a loving Gramps to:  Jeffrey Parker (Leanne), Aynsley (Brad), Craig Parker (Kacie), Adam Wilson, Steven Wilson, Jesse Collins, Lyndsay Caruana (Chris), Luke Lawler, Melissa Lawler and Marcus Lawler, as well as a loving Great Gramps to 12: Scott Parker, Katelyn Parker, Addison Parker,  Riese Parker, Silas Wilson, Evelyn Caruana, Nico Caruana, Paige, Mariah and Xavier Lawler.

 

Brother of Chuck Lawler (Linda), Patrick Lawler (Joyce), Colleen DeBoer (Brian). Predeceased by his sisters Maryann Lawler, Peggy Lawler Sinclair, and parents Daniel and Aileen Lawler (nee McFarlane).

 

He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews:  Dan Lawler, Bill Sinclair, Jason Lawler, Kris Lawler, Derek DeBoer, Rebekah DeBoer, Martha DeBoer, Laura DeBoer, and as well, his many beloved dear friends and extended family.

 

Bernie was a gifted musician, and he along with his wife Kathy, built and ran their successful music conservatory with dedication, passion and love. Their students meant the world to them.   

 

At Bernie’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

 

Bernie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 2-2:45 p.m. at the Erb & Good Funeral Home, 171 King St S, Waterloo, followed by a memorial service to celebrate Bernie’s life in the chapel at 3 p.m.   Reception to follow.   

 

Bernie’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Waterloo Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness provided to Bernie and his family during his last several days. The family is also grateful to the dedicated staff and doctors at St. Mary’s Hospital for their attention and support.
