Dorothy passed away peacefully at Grand River Freeport Hospital on Saturday, March 30, 2024. She was 89. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years Sean Anthony Lowry (2014). Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Matriarch for our entire extended family. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Carmel (husband Floyd Branston 2017), son Kevin (wife Angela nee Renon), son Edmund (wife, Bernadette Perryman), and daughter Helen (husband Luis Fonseca). Dorothy was extremely proud of all her grandchildren, Kyle (Kristen), Sean (Deanna), Shane (Katrina), Sarah (Yvan), Veronica (Taylor), Patrick, and Micheal. The great-grandchildren, Enzo, Nico, Cohen, Luna, Annabelle, Brooklyn, Abbigail, Brianna, and Rowan were a great comfort for her.
Predeceased by her parents James and Evelyn (nee Cross) Martin, brother Terrance Martin and half brother John Jackson.
Born in Cheshire, England, on July 20, 1934, Dorothy emigrated to Canada in 1953. Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. With a passion for literature and the arts, Dorothy immersed herself in storytelling and creativity, often spending her evenings lost in the pages of a captivating novel or attending local theater productions. An avid traveller, Dorothy made many trips with her daughters. Deeply rooted in her faith, Dorothy not only worshipped but also became a cherished member of the church choir. Her love for family knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent together.
The family would like to thank the people at Winston Park, the Home Instead Care Team, and the staff of Grand River and Freeport Hospitals for their kind and generous care throughout the last year.
