It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Tsong Hue Lin 林崇煇. He died peacefully at Age Care West Williams, Long Term care home in Kitchener ON, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 94.
Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Hsu Hwei (Aug 2021); Father- Lin, Si Po林西柏, mother- Lin Lu, Tian So林呂添籌and two brothers 林崇鍇,林崇標.
Loving father to Ruth (Andrew) Song, Kitchener, ON. Stephen (Mooilan) Lin, Miami, FL, and Lili Lin Lee, Singapore. Grandfather to Ben (Rachael), Debbie (Michael), Lizzie, Kevin (Courtney), Emily, Christina, Michael, and Gabriel. Great-grandfather to Nora and Cole. He is survived by one brother 林崇宇in Taiwan and many nieces and nephews.
Papa was born and raised in Taiwan. Upon marrying mama, they raised 3 of us in Taiwan, Singapore and Toronto, Canada. He was an engineer with a sharp mind and a creative thinker, like a MacGyver. He had a positive attitude towards life. Even after a work-related accident which resulted in him losing three fingers on his right hand, he bravely accepted the advice of his medical professional team and went through a series of new and innovative microsurgeries that were suggested to him. This involved transplanting two of his toes to his right hand. Despite its challenges, with his resilience and determination, he successfully regained usage in his hand.
He never stopped learning. After retirement, he and mom took up a hobby of growing and caring for Bonsai. He completed a horticulture certificate at Humber College in Toronto which led to them receiving several awards in Bonsai shows in the Toronto area. Papa and mama spent many Fall seasons driving to Princeton University to study East Asian courses, often bringing friends along to join them.
They enjoyed traveling and took many trips driving across Canada, to Miami, flew to Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore. They especially loved going on cruises with church friends.
Papa was very active in the church. Him and mama sang in the church choir and offered rides for members to and from church. He was kind and caring.
Our utmost gratitude and sincere thanks to Age Care West Williams Long Term Care who provided excellent care to Dad these last two years.
