Clare G Bowman, 77, of Waterloo, Ontario, passed away suddenly on April 7, 2024 at Grand River Hospital.
Clare was born in Kitchener-Waterloo to Orvie and Magdalena Bowman of Elmira in 1946. He went to high school at Elmira District Secondary School and graduated in 1965. Upon graduating, Clare started what would be a 33 year career at Bell Canada. Through his career, Clare made many lifelong friends whom he cherished and stayed close with into his retirement.
More than anything, Clare enjoyed spending time with his wife, Susan, his family and many friends sailing in the North Channel on their much-loved boat, Sulika. Clare was the best dad ever. A devoted father who was a steadfast champion for everything his girls chose to pursue. From the t-ball diamond to the pool, Clare was there coaching, cheering and occasionally wiping away the tears with words of encouragement.
Clare loved fishing, birdwatching, hunting and enjoying the great outdoors followed by rousing card games. An avid sports fan, Clare was devoted to his beloved Buffalo Bills and Blue Jays never giving up hope that next year would be the year.
Clare was kind, caring and giving of his time, always willing to lend a hand or volunteering when needed. With his dry wit and keen sense of humour, Clare could always bring a smile or chuckle to everyone.
Clare is survived by his wife, best friend and first mate Susan with whom he celebrated 55 amazing years of marriage, his adoring daughters Lisa (Jim) and Kara (Steve), cherished granddaughters Megan and Kate Ronald and grandpups Cooper and Cosmo. Clare is survived by his siblings Beatrice, Norma, and Ruth (Rich), and brother-in-law Jim. Predeceased by his brother Willie (Maryann), nephew Roger, brother-in-law Ron, and sister-in-law Cathy. Clare is also survived by his many loved nieces and nephews Lewis (Kathy), Gary (Cathy), Charmaine (Chris), Connie (Keith), Kelly (Scott), Cindy (Derek), Dionne (Jeff), Ryan (Kristine), Allison (David), Ryan (Melissa), Breanne, Tim (Liz), Jason and many grandnieces and nephews.
