Obituary of Rodney Thomas Kennedy

Rodney Thomas Kennedy passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the age of 56.

Rod will be lovingly remembered by his wife Laura Barker, daughters Kayla and Alex (Greg), mother Leone Kennedy, sisters Cindy, Stacie (John), Jacqlyn (Ricky), nieces and nephews Ryan, Caitlyn, Luke, and his great-nephew and great-nieces Winston, Persephone, and Calliope.

He was predeceased by his father Donald Kennedy, and his son Josh Barker.

Born in Newfoundland and Labrador, Rod spent his formative years in Labrador City. He worked administration for the Canadian Military, then moved to Kitchener-Waterloo in 1988. In 2003, he met Laura and her children, whom he loved as his own, and they built a life together. Rod was a generous person, donating a kidney for his 50^th birthday. He was also an avid Leafs fan, loved golf, and enjoyed both playing and watching poker. Rod loved a good laugh, and possessed a wonderful sense of humour. He will be deeply missed.

Cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home Chapel, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.
