Obituary of Sharon Ann Kirsopp

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sharon Kirsopp on Friday March 29, 2024 at Grand River Hospital in Waterloo. She passed peacefully with her husband at her side, ending her long battle with cancer. She was much loved and will be dearly missed.

Sharon was the beloved wife and best friend of husband Sandy. She was a loving stepmom to son Alex (Karen), daughters Amanda (Bradley), and Tammy. Sharon is survived by her brother Doug Koegler (Debbie), and nieces Joanne Roberts (Mike) and Stephanie Schurr (Ryan). Predeceased by her parents John and Merl Koegler.

Sharon was kind, generous, and giving. She always had a smile, and as friends soon learned, a wicked sense of humour. Sharon enjoyed travelling, something she no doubt got from her parents, John and Merl Koegler. She often shared memories of their many family vacations as they explored our great country. Sharon was a nursing graduate at a time when there were few jobs for nurses. Instead, Sharon opted to pursue a career at Wilfrid Laurier University. Where she eventually retired as the Purchasing and Scheduling supervisor for Food Services. She loved dinners with friends, puzzles and almost any kind of craft project. However, her favourite place, her happy place, was her cottage at Hope Bay. She loved to spend her time there boating, gardening and walking with Teresa, Helen and her many other friends “on the Bay”.

Special thanks to the staff at Grand River Hospital who fought so hard for her, and in her final hours treated her with such kindness and compassion.

In keeping with Sharon’s wishes there will be no formal visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. To celebrate her life an informal open house will be held at the Erb and Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday April 27^th, 2024 from 1 - 3 p.m.
