It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Esther Anne Penfold (nee Balzer) on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener, Ontario. After a long battle with her health, Esther has gone home to be with her Lord.
Esther is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Robert, their son Joshua (Rebecca), and daughter Johanna (Lucas), her brothers Edward (Beverley) and David (Violet). She also leaves behind four grandchildren whom she adored: Ellen, Jameson, Ruth, and Madison.
Esther was born in Kitchener, Ontario, on July 25, 1958, to Nicholas and Margaret Balzer. Throughout her life she was devoted to her church community, loved crafting, reading, and playing piano. Esther also enjoyed travelling, camping with her family when the kids were young, and exploring the world with Bob later in life, though she always loved coming home. Esther was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Oma, and selflessly served all those she loved.
