I miss Janine already. She made it a point to enjoy all life had to offer whether her taste in music, food or art. A true zest for living and making friends that brought a special energy into the room. A curious and inquiring mind. A life well-lived and well-loved.

Dear Jesse, Bram, Maliyah, and David
Sending my deepest condolences to you and the Grespan Family.
I will cherish and hold close to my heart all the wonderful memories Janine and I shared together.
I am truly blessed to have loved her as my dear friend.
Here are a couple of photos of time we spent
together.
"In the autumn I gathered all my sorrows and buried them in my garden. And when April returned and Spring came to wed the earth, there grew in my garden beautiful flowers unlike all other flowers.
And my neighbours came to behold them, and they all said to me, "when autumn comes again, at seeding time, will you not give us the seeds of these flowers that we may have them in our gardens?"
Khalil Gibran
Rest in peace my dear friend.

Janine was my absolute hero. I wanted to be her. I would "sign off" in the same way she did, saying her name the same way she did, whenever I dreamt of becoming a journalist. Those that followed her on CTV had their own talents but I often thought to myself, They're no Janine Grespan! I missed her on CTV and would have loved to meet her. My deepest condolences to her loved ones. How blessed you were to have her.

Bram, Jesse and family. Your Mom truly was a special person. I remember always looking forward to watching her on the local news. Speaking in public came so naturally to her. I met her a few years ago when we both were volunteering at the Jazz Room. She soon joined their Board of Directors and began hosting many of the shows. Lots of great memories we have including NYE parties. As you say she will always be remembered as an icon in our community. Sending my sincerest condolences to you all.

My sincere condolences to Janine's family. I encountered her dancing alone, as I myself would do the same without a second thought, many times in downtown Kitchener. I knew her lovely parents, Ines and Feruccio (Fred), through years of membership with the Italian Cortina Club. In Italian there is an expression: "A tavola si sta sempre in allegria" which loosely translates to "at the table you are always happy," sharing time with family, friends, good food and, of course, wine. RIP Janine. I will always remember the beautiful smile you wore so well every day. Ciao Bella xo

We Overgaards were so lucky to have grown up across the street from the Grespan family. Together with the Gildners, there were always plenty of kids around and our parents never had to wonder what we were up to because we were always at one house or the other. I think we spent most of our time at the Grespan household, and although they had a large family, their parents never hesitated to include the neighbourhood children in all activities, including the pool and the tree fort, and even invited us for sleep overs. Janine was a little younger, and was feisty, friendly and bubbly, and always wanted to be involved with whatever the older kids were doing.
When I joined the SJAM staff, I was amazed at the coincidence that David was married to Janine. Small world, indeed. The last time I spoke with Janine was at Colleen Gildner's celebration of life last December. She wore a yellow suit, and looked so trendy and unconventional. That's how I'll remember her - gutsy, practical and with the ability to pick up conversation where we left off.
Sincere condolences to the family.

Dear Bram, Maliayah, Jesse, David and Family,
Our hearts and prayers are especially with all of you at this time.. darling Janine truly touched so many lives and loved you all with all her heart.
I feel truly blessed to have loved darling Janine like a sister. I shall treasure all our moments together through the years, going for countless walks ( with Maple) talking about our passions in life. How we loved to go for picnics and paint in the gardens, and going to High Teas together. She is forever in all our hearts… and this was our favourite quote we shared by the poet Lord Tennyson…” If I had a flower for every time I thought of you….I could walk in my Garden forever.”
Love in Every Petal,
Margie Gowing ( Doug,& Michelle)

Janine was and will always be our little sister. She lived a unique life of family, love, joy, curiosity and community highlighted by many professional achievements and the raising of her two sons. One cannot sum up such a life lived in a few paragraphs and those that knew her or were lucky enough to be her friend or family member will all have their own expansive thoughts on her part in our lives. I hope we all can keep her alive in our hearts and memories. I know that I and many others will. A great loss personally for our family and the community which she so loved. RIP my dear sister.

Bram and Jesse,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was taken far too early. Your tribute to her is outstanding, and there's not much more I can add.
I had the pleasure of working with her for many years in the newsroom at CKCO-TV, and we had lots of laughs together. She was a firecracker, and her smile and laugh were infectious. She showed immense strength, courage and integrity throughout her first cancer battle during that time. I always admired her for that.
We crossed paths several years ago and it was like no time had passed. We said we'd get together "soon", but I'm sorry to say that never happened.
The picture I'm including was taken in November 1999... Janine and David acting it up before leaving a "Lennox Lewis Fight Night" party at my home in Waterloo. The picture says it all.
David, my thoughts are also with you. We go back a long time and I know this is a huge loss. You and Janine had many years and special memories together. I'm so glad you have two wonderful sons to carry on both yours, and Janine's legacy.
Hugs to all of you.

Rest easy my childhood news anchor!
Growing up in Cambridge, I watched Janine Grespan everyday at 6pm with my late grandparents. She had a way of engaging the audience to care about the stories that mattered. I admire her dedication to serving the community she loved.
Journalists like Janine inspired me to pursue journalism as a career.
In 2009, I remember meeting your mom at the CKCO News open house. I told her, when I was 14 years old, that in 10 years, I’ll be anchoring the 6pm news with her. She was so kind and had a big smile! Sadly, that never happened. Your mom was the best co-worker I never had!
Please know, your mom had a huge influence on my life.
Reading this obituary made me cry! I’m so sad.
My deepest condolences to your family!
