Obituary of James "Jim" Gary Gehl
Jim passed away peacefully, at the age of 80 years, in the early hours of Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Waterloo Hospice. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Anne (Dietrich) Gehl and sons, Trevor (Tracey) and Chris (Susan). His three grandchildren William, Wesley and Danika held a special place in his heart. He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Ida Gehl, in-laws Bob and Lorraine Dietrich and sister-in-law Pat Henhoeffer. Survived by his brother Ron (Rita) Gehl, sister Christine (Dave) Heipel, sisters and brothers-in-law John Henhoeffer, Len (Joan) Dietrich, Norb (Laurie) Dietrich, Bob (Theresa) Dietrich, Steve (Lisa) Dietrich, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and one great-great- nephew. Jim worked for Zehrs Markets all of his working years, was an active member of St Agatha RC Church and carved at Wilmot Senior’s Woodworking and Craft Shop, Baden.
Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Parish Prayers offered at 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha RC Church, 1839 Notre Dame Dr., St. Agatha on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11 a.m., followed by the interment at St. Agatha RC Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Parish Hall. Cremation has taken place.
