Obituary of Elfriede Minna Matilda Toth

Elfriede Minna Matilda Toth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the age of 92.

Loving Mom to daughters Rita (Jim) Larson and Peggy (Ed) Huberts. Beloved Oma to grandchildren Reid (Alysha), Nadine (Mardy), Courtney, and Blake, and great-grandchildren Larkin, Ryker, Baylor, Brinley, and Bo. Always remembered by her beloved sister Anne Paetz (Dieter), brother-in-law Bill (Kathy) Toth, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Predeceased by her devoted husband George Toth, parents Hugo and Anna Meier, and siblings Hilde Patz, Franz Meier, Walter Meier, Kurt Meier, and Gretel Ganz.

Elfriede was the first of her siblings to be born in a hospital where she was named after one of the nurses. She originally came to Canada to visit her two brothers, and decided to make Canada her home. She met George at night school learning English, where he eventually won her over.  Elfriede worked the majority of her career at Fiedler’s Deli in Kitchener with her many co-workers, where she was jokingly considered to be part of the furniture. Together with George, she spent her retirement travelling the world, and spending time with family and friends.

Special thanks to the staff at Royal Terrace Retirement Home and Palmerston Hospital for their excellent care of Elfriede.
