Obituary of Catherine "Cathi" Moffett

On the afternoon of Thursday, May 16, 2024, Catherine “Cathi” Mary Moffett (nee Soper) passed away peacefully with family by her side in her Grand Bend home.  Cathi was 62 years old.  Cathi was born in Stratford, Ontario on June 5, 1961. After marrying the love of her life in 1981 they raised two boys just one year apart in age and Cathi went on to complete her Masters in Social Work and fulfilled a lifelong goal of providing counseling and mental health support to families while working at Saint Monica House, Catholic Family Counseling, and K-W “Grand River” Hospital. 

Cathi enjoyed watching sunsets and wildlife from her living room, solving puzzles, spending time with family and friends, watching her grandchildren play and grow, and taking care of the pairs of dachshunds the family had over the years.  Cathi spent years teaching Dance Fit where she made many friends in the community.

Cathi is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Milton Leonard Moffett who provided in-home care for Cathi as she lost mobility in her later years, two sons Milton Thomas Moffett (Corlise) and David Leonard Moffett, four grandchildren Milton “William” and Ava Marie from the eldest son Milton Jr. and Emma Nicole and Lucy Catherine from David (Brieanna Moffett mother of David’s children).  Cathi is survived by her father Thomas Owen Soper, siblings Kris Soper (Pete Weldon), Tom Soper (Mindy), Cheryl Soper, and predeceased by her mother Doris Margaret Soper (nee Herbert).

A celebration of Cathi’s life will be held at the Deer Ridge Golf Club, 200 Deer Ridge Drive, Kitchener on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Tributes will be given at 6:30 p.m.
