Obituary of Joan Mary Danner (nee Weinstein)

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Danner (nee Weinstein) on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, with her family by her side.

Joan will be greatly missed by her beloved husband Gerhard Danner of  55 years. Also missed by her brother Bernie Weinstein of Kitchener and sister-in-law Mary Weinstein of Kelowna, B.C.  Joan will be fondly remembered by many friends and sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Joan is predeceased by her four brothers Harold, Gilbert, Don and Joe, and her sister Anne.

Joan was a long-time employee of Bell Canada. She began as a switchboard operator, and during her forty-year career saw many changes at Bell. During her retirement, Joan enjoyed traveling, gardening, and getting together for coffee with friends. On Friday nights, Joan could often be found enjoying the weekly Fish Fry’s at the Waterloo Knights of Columbus.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Joan with her family during a Visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:45 am. The Funeral Mass will be held the same day at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St, Waterloo at 12:30pm, with Monsignor Edward Sheridan presiding. A reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation will take place, and a private interment will be held at Parkview Cemetery at a later date.

Condolences for the family and donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
