Obituary of Bernice Cecelia Day

Bernice Cecelia Day (nee Hooper) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Grand River Hospital on Tuesday June 4, 2024, at age 93.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter Jo Anne (John) Aitken, son Stephen Day and granddaughter Justine Black. Bernice will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Predeceased by husband Owen of 25 years, parents Sydney and Agnes Hooper, brother Robert (Jan) Hooper, sister Doreen (Walter) Baulk.

Bernice met Owen while they were serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. During this time, she was able to take her children camping all over Canada and the northern United States. Bernice continued to love travel and exploring new places. She enjoyed puzzles and spending time with her friends. Bernice was well loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Special thanks to the staff at Beechwood Manor for the support and kindness they showed Bernice, becoming like a part of her family, and the friendships she was able to form while there. Thank you to Grand River Hospital staff, especially the nurses and doctors on the surgical and ICU floors for the compassion and care they provided to Bernice and her family.

A private family Interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Breslau.
