Obituary of Brian Fitzpatrick

Passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024 at age 71 from heart failure at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his son Robert (Bud) Fitzpatrick, daughters Samantha Morgan and Megan Fitzpatrick, sister Carey (Ray), brothers David and Philip (Dayna) and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Robert and Frances and brother Geoffrey.

Brian grew up in Toronto and attended Upper Canada College before obtaining his degree in English at the University of Toronto. Summer jobs on Bay Street lead to a career in financial services at several brokerage firms before and after moving to Kitchener-Waterloo in the 80’s. He was funny and clever with an expansive vocabulary that he used to challenge and confuse his children. Brian loved to play golf and watch sports with the guys, usually with a friendly wager on the line. He was an avid reader, often finishing a mystery novel every other day between frequent visits to the library. He enjoyed the lighter side of life including the entertainment of a good magician or comedian and travelling with his friend Linda.  When help was needed, Brian was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was his time in the past supporting JDRF or with his tools to fix something in need of repair. He was a good father, friend and neighbour to many and he will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place.  A private family service will be held at a later date.
