It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we regretfully announce Marcella Ann Dorscht passed away peacefully at Grand River Freeport on Friday June 7, 2024, at age 79.

Survived by loving daughter Jennifer, siblings Delford Straus, Marlene Lindsay (Harvey McNaught), Bernard Straus, Dorothy Wettlaufer, Clare Straus, Elaine Mullan (Kevin) and brother-in-law Don Voisin. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

An exemplary mother, wife and sister.  Predeceased by her loving husband William, parents Felix and Beatrice (nee Knoblauch) Straus, brother Larry Straus, sister Veronica Voisin, and brother-in-law Karl Wettlaufer.

Her family was raised in St. Clements and were parishioners at St. Clements Roman Catholic Parish during their childhood.  Marcella retired after several years from Imperial Tobacco. She had fond memories of her colleagues and enjoyed the years they spent working together.

Special thanks to St. Mary’s Hospital and their exceptionally skilled and dedicated doctors who have provided compassionate care to her and our family for over 60 years.  We appreciate them greatly as we reflect on their contributions to wellness and how they resonate with us. In addition, thank you to the healthcare workers who touched Marcella’s life and displayed a pronounced sense of community.

A private family Interment and Roman Catholic mass was held at the graveside.

We pray for eternal peace and solace for Marcella as she passed into the hands of the Lord.

In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to the MS Society Waterloo Chapter and the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S. Waterloo at
