Obituary of Katharina Maria Josefine Halsband
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Katharina Halsband (nee Lucas) announce her sudden passing on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener in her 95th year.
Beloved wife of the late Wilhelm Halsband (2011). Dear mother of Isolde Miehm (Grant) of Waterloo, Sabina Moore (Richard) of Gore Bay and Bill Halsband (Heather) of Kitchener. Very much adored grandmother of Amanda (John) of Bermuda, Matthew (Maame) of Burlington, Jennifer (Ariel) of Barrie, Kyle and Emily both of Kitchener. Katie was a doting great-grandmother to Garyn, Noah, Cameron, Avery and Iris.
Katie enjoyed her outings with family, friends and neighbours. She was always cheerful, very active and immensely independent. She prioritized her daily walks and was the very first one to acknowledge everyone’s special day with an early morning phone call.
The family thanks the nurses and doctors of Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care.
A memorial service will take place at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Ave., Kitchener on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow the service.
