Obituary of Laverne Harold Strub
Laverne Harold Strub
Passed away suddenly at home on Saturday June 29, 2024. Laverne was born 61 years ago in Kitchener, Ontario.
Loving father of Jaimie and Ryan Shantz (Kitchener, ON), Bradley Strub (Kitchener, ON) and Jennifer Strub and Devin Briand (Kitchener, ON). Proud and loving grandfather to Zachary and Daphne Shantz and Lilith Strub Briand.
Dear brother to Lilian Stroh (Kitchener, ON) and Linda and Wayne King (Newfoundland). He will be sadly missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Laverne was predeceased by parents Harold Wilfird Strub (1990) and Marjorie (Rose) Strub (1988).
Laverne was a jack of many trades. Trained as an underwriter in personal life insurance at Sunlife Financial. He was also gifted in trades working as a welder-fitter and handyman. He enjoyed building with his hands; and bought only what he could not make or repair for himself. He was an inventor and built many custom projects within his home. He spent all of his life working on various carpentry, housing and automotive projects. Following ongoing medical struggles over the past several years that inhibited him from continuing to pursue the physical part of the work himself, he often coached and offered his wisdom to others in executing projects around his home and within their own.
Laverne enjoyed music and would spend time with family and friends playing his guitar and singing songs at home and on family camping trips. He was a storyteller and loved to share a good joke.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life service held at Mannheim Mennonite Church, 1494 Bleams Road, Petersburg, ON. on Sunday July 14, 2024 at 1:00pm. Reception to follow the service.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to Mannheim Mennonite Church 1494 Bleams Road, Petersburg, ON. N0B 2H0 would be appreciated by the family. Cheques can be made payable to Mannheim Mennonite Church or by e-transfer to treasurer@mannheimmennonite.ca indicating donation in memory of Laverne Strub.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the family and friends who supported him during his decline in health throughout the past couple of years.
