Obituary of Anna Kreischer

Anna passed away peacefully at Freeport Hospital on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 89. 

Anna was born in Zendersch Transylvania on September 6, 1934.

Mother of Elfriede Walesch (Peter) and Herbert Kreischer (Karen). Oma will be remembered by her granddaughters Tanya Walesch (Joe Potts) and Olivia Emrich (Jeff). Cherished Omama to Michael, Gabriel, Tobias Emrich, and Bram Potts.

Anna will be remembered by her sister and brother-in-law Sara and Klaus Bliefert, sister Regina Karschti, sister-in-law Irmgard Weber of Austria and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband Michael (2022), parents Michael Kappes (1986) and Sara (nee Radder) (1995), daughter-in-law Judy Kreischer (2009), brother-in-law’s Simon Kreischer (1966), Johann Karschti (2023), Georg Kreischer (2024) and nephew John Karschti (2018).

Anna and Michael immigrated to Canada in 1953, settling in Alberta and moved to Kitchener in December 1954.  She was a long-time member of the Transylvania Club and Bethel Lutheran Church.

Anna worked as a hairdresser in a retirement / nursing home for many years.  Knitting and crocheting was her passion.  She knit hats, mitts, scarves, socks, blankets, and slippers for her family and for the Children’s Home Care. The family has many heirloom tablecloths and doilies, all made by Anna with love.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, and making jam.  At family functions, everyone loved her “hunklich”. 

Special thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who cared for Anna while she was at Grand River and Freeport Hospitals.  A very special thanks to Doctors Mithoowani and Califaretti and nurse Jenn from the Cancer Centre.
 

Friends are invited to share their memories of Anna with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Friday July 5, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday July 6th from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m.  The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, July 6, 2024  at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Davi Schmidt officiating.  The service will be livestreamed at www.erbgood.com on Anna’s tribute page. A private family interment will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Kitchener.
