Frank Joseph Langenecker passed away peacefully at Hospice Waterloo Region on Tuesday July 9, 2024, at age 92 following loving home care made possible by a wonderful team of professional and family caregivers, most noteworthy, his son John.
Dedicated to God, country and family, Frank led a rich, meaningful and fruitful life.
Predeceased by his loving wife Joyce (nee Stevens) of 50 years whom he openly adored, parents Frank and Magdalena Langenecker (nee Pohl), and sisters Leine and Anna.
Survived by his seven children, Helen (Bill), Frank (Lynn), Earl (Paulette), Paul (Michelle), Mary, John and Mark. Frank had a deep and varied interest in religion and was devout in his religious practices. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and loved being at sea. He met his wife while wearing his sailor uniform at a dance at Jackson Park in Windsor. He loved to dance, play chess and pool, read, go camping and fishing, and he loved to talk and tell stories. Frank enjoyed photography and had his own darkroom. He taught himself to play the guitar. He loved ice cream. He was fond of his cars, rode motorcycles, and as a young man, even owned a horse. He swam, took long walks with his wife Joyce, walked his dogs, played golf, did weightlifting in his basement, practiced martial arts and remained active throughout his life. After sailing the seven seas he enjoyed staying in his hometown, Kitchener, where the Kitchener Market and Victoria Park were mainstays, unless driving across Canada to visit family.
Frank will be remembered by all he touched, his diverse communities, his large and extended family, dear friends, and neighbours.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 148 Madison Ave S, Kitchener, on Monday July 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
