Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 11, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta in her 96th year.
Sally was born on August 30, 1927 in the small village of St. Jacobs, Ontario.
Daughter of the late Louis Knischewsky and Emma (nee Oswald). Beloved wife of the late Robert Farquhar.
Loving mother of Bob Farquhar (Candace), Joy Mclaughlin (Russell), daughter in-law Jane Farquhar and son-in-law Robert McNaught (Amanda). Fondly remembered by her cherished grandchildren Shawn Farquhar (Nova), Paul Farquhar (Rebecca), Alex Farquhar (Dana), Brittany Farquhar (Travis), Cameron and Sarah McNaught, Blaine and Eric McLaughlin, Zachary Pennett, Vanessa and Ashleigh Townsend. Great-grandmother to Celeste and Soleil Farquhar and Adalina and Anaiya Bathen. Dear sister of Johnny Knischewsky (Lucy), Marieta Eckhart (Edward) and sister-in-law Irene Farquhar (The late Bruce). Beloved by her many nieces and nephews.
Sally was predeceased by her daughter Susan McNaught and sons Tim and Steven Farquhar, brother Milton, sisters and brothers-in-law Stella (Ross) Kehl, Laura (Lloyd) Kieswetter, Gladys (Len) Zettler, Frances Gooding, Jean (Harry) Jankura, and Willard (MaryAnn) Knischewsky.
She had many interests including gardening, playing card games like cribbage and rummoli, crocheting, doing jigsaw and word search puzzles. She did Bunka (Japanese embroidery) creating numerous pictures for family and friends. She had a sense of adventure and loved to travel and see new places. She was always game to go to the casino and had a knack for finding a lucky machine. When her husband suffered a stroke, she was a devoted and supporting wife which enabled him to live at home in a normal but altered life for ten years. Even with the loss of her children, Sally always had a smile, a positive outlook and looked forward to what life had to offer. She was very resilient.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday July 24, 2024 from 7p.m. - 9p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. Followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room. Interment will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, St. Jacobs where all are welcome to join the family.
