Barbara Linder

Obituary of Barbara Ann Linder

Barb passed away peacefully after a very brief illness with her family by her side on July 11, 2024 at Victoria Hospital, London.

Barbara was born to Murray (2009) and June McLaren in Southampton while her parents were on vacation. She was the first born of six children.

She grew up in Rockwood, Ontario where she graduated high school at Centennial C.V.I. (Guelph). Later in life, Barb moved to Toronto to work for Bell Canada.

She eventually moved to Waterloo in the late seventies for a job in the printshop/mailroom at Wilfrid Laurier University and later changed positions to take a job in the WLU Library in 1991. Barb retired in 2021 after 44 years of service.

Barbara met her husband Edward at WLU and they were married in 1982. They were happily married for almost 42 years. Barb was a proud mother to Alison who was born on March 11, 1986.

Barb will be deeply missed by her loving husband Edward, her daughter Alison, and her granddaughter Charlotte (Charlie).

She is survived by her mother June McLaren, her siblings Dennis (Laura), Brenda, Darlene, Steven, and Andrew.

There are so many wonderful things to say about Barbara. She had a love for reading and music and played the guitar, ukulele, and mandolin for fun. She loved animals so much, especially Jimmi. Barb enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially with her granddaughter Charlie. She was known for bringing casseroles to events with people that she loved and cared for. You would often find Barbara enjoying early morning trail walks, going to the park, craft store and library.

Special thanks to the nurses and doctors who cared for Barbara at Grand River Hospital and Victoria Hospital.  Also, thank you to some very special friends Randy, Barbara May, Carrie and Sandy.

A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 20th from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo in the Fireside Reception Room.
