Obituary of Elsie Piatkowski

Elsie Isabel Piatkowski (Sparks)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Isabel Piatkowski (Sparks) on  Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the age of 86. After a nine year journey with Alzheimer’s Disease, she is finally at peace and reunited with the love of her life, Harry.

Survived by her children, Sandra (J.P.) and Scott (Jennifer); grandchildren, Matthew (Danica), Katie and Sarah, Allie, Sydney (Cam), Daenera, and Vivian; sister-in-law Carol (Tommy); and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband Harry, as well as her parents, Archie and Susan, and her step-father, Cecil.  Also predeceased by her sisters, Ella and Mabel, along with four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

Elsie was born on a farm at Sparks’ Corner, outside Port Elgin.  She met Harry and wed when she was just 18 years old, moving to Kitchener where she focused on raising her family.  Even after her memory was compromised, she could still tell family that it had been a wonderful marriage.  Elsie and Harry were lifelong members of St. James’-Rosemount United Church, and met monthly for nearly 60 years with their dear friends in the Young Married Couples Club.

Many thanks to Dr. Johansen and the staff at Columbia Forest LTC who cared for her during the last two years of her life.  Also, we appreciate the staff at Victoria Place Retirement Community where she lived for the seven years prior.

Cremation has taken place.  Friends and family are invited to share their memories during a visitation to be held at Erb & Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street S in Waterloo on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday, July 26 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with a memorial service on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home.  A reception will immediately follow in the Fireside Reception Room. For those unable to attend, the memorial service will be livestreamed at www.erbgood.com.
