Judy Weldon, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 surrounded by her family, at the Lanark Heights Long-term Care facility in Kitchener, Ontario. Beloved wife of Carl Weldon and loving mother to Nick (Janet), Scott (Meredith), and Alanna. Cherished grandmother of Gavin, Zack, Charlotte, Isaac, and Killarney. Sister to Marg and Jackie. She was born on February 2, 1946 and spent much of her early years in Lindsay, Ontario where she met her high school sweetheart Carl Weldon. Judy asked Carl, the captain of the football team, to the Sadie Hawkins dance at LCVI. Judy lived a life full of love, dedication, and warmth.
As a devoted mother to her three children, Judy's nurturing spirit was evident in every aspect of her life. In her children's early years Judy spent much time driving to hockey arenas and was often the loudest fan with her homemade noise makers.
Judy moved to Kitchener-Waterloo in her early 20's and lived at the YMCA women's residence while she started her career at Schneiders Meats. Throughout her life she showed drive and resilience while achieving her goals, as demonstrated by becoming the first female salesperson at Schneiders. Continually looking for her next challenge, Judy enrolled in the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Waterloo. Upon graduating, Judy continued her interest in education by completing teacher's college at the University of Western Ontario.
Judy's early high school teaching career at Eastwood Collegiate was put on hold to stay at home and raise her three children. Her always energetic and creative ideas led to the creation of the first Wildlife Garden at Empire School (which still exists today!) while she volunteered her time as her three children attended primary school there. Judy always focused on the improvement of her community and the people within it.
Judy was also a loving wife to Carl Weldon. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Her family was always at the heart of her life. She had a talent for bringing people together, often through her love of cooking. Her home was a place of comfort and joy, where delicious meals and heartfelt conversations were a staple.
Beyond her home, Judy had a passion for travel. Judy and Carl explored the world with trips to all corners of the globe, including South America, India, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Australia to name a few, gaining new experiences and cherishing the beauty of different cultures. Their adventures were many, and they always returned home with stories to share and memories to treasure.
Judy's legacy is one of love, education, and the bonds of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
