Obituary of Dorothy Jean Battae

Dorothy Jean Battae

November 25, 1944-August 9, 2024

It is with profound sadness our family announces the death of our most cherished Dorothy, following a lengthy and difficult illness, on August 9th, 2024.

Born November 25th, 1944 in Toronto, Dorothy worked at the University of Waterloo for 34 years, becoming the head of Finance. Once she retired, she served on many boards to provide services to others in need in our community. She attended mass daily and worked countless hours at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church. She was a treasured member of the choir and parish. Dorothy was also a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League.

Dorothy is the chosen sister of Carol Salisbury (Jim) for over 40 years, with whom she shared endless adventures and family times.

Dorothy’s greatest achievement was her love, dedication, and consistent care of Matthew Weber (Krista MacKay), Elizabeth Hilgers (Sven), and Godson Daniel Weber (Lauren).

Dorothy leaves behind precious memories for Olivia and Stella Hilgers, and Maximus Weber, whom she enjoyed immensely.

Dorothy was a one of a kind. The world lost a great soul.

Special thanks to Dr. Tom Borys, whose care and concern brought her great comfort.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name can be made to Ronald McDonald House, or K-W Humane Society.

Visitation will take place on Thursday August 15th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with vigil prayers at 7:30pm at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S, Waterloo. Funeral Mass will be held Friday August 16th at 11am at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Phil Reilly presiding.  A reception will be held in the church hall afterwards.
