Obituary of Michael W. Wilson

Passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years and best friend Lenora, daughter Kimberly Wilson (Rick Vanry), granddaughter Hayley McCormick, and sister Nancy Wilson. Brother-in-law to Marg Wilson and Sonia Wilson. Son of Harry and Beryl Wilson.

Mike was an example of someone who had determination to overcome his life’s challenges. He was a Life member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and an Alumnus of Wilfrid Laurier University. He served on each of the Waterloo North Hydro Commission and the City of Waterloo Public Library Board for nine years.

Mike was an active member of Trinity United Church for many years and served on several committees. He will be missed by members of the Fellowship Club. He and Lenora were members for more than 50 years. He and Lenora enjoyed living at Waterpark Place, and he was Treasurer of the Board of Directors for thirteen years.

Following 44 years of employment in public accounting, government, health care, and financial planning, Mike continued to pursue his interest in travel and Bridge.

Mike was a long-time member of the Kitchener-Conestoga Men’s Probus Club and particularly enjoyed the Bridge and luncheon groups hosted by his friend Bill Hall.

Mike’s body has been donated to science, as per his wishes. There will be a private recognition of Mike’s life at a later date.
