Obituary of Erwin Hintz

With great sadness we announce the passing of our father Erwin Hintz on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Nithview Longterm Care in New Hamburg, at the age of 94. 

Beloved father of Karen Kuntz (Dan), Lisa Schumm (Mark) and Paul Hintz (Kelly).  Cherished grandfather of Nicole Brown (Tyson), Lauren Schumm (Dario) and Corbin Schumm.  Great grandfather of Harper Rose Brown.  Erwin is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Myrtle Joan Hintz (nee Lough), and his parents Theodore and Lydia Hintz.

Upon emigrating from Poland, Erwin worked as an upholsterer for James C. Snyder for a remarkable 50 years. Erwin built his family a cottage in Bayfield and it was his life’s joy for 60 years. The family spent every summer together at the cottage and every year he tackled a new project or addition as the family expanded.

Erwin and Myrtle were lifelong members of the Trillium Lutheran Church, where he also served as an usher.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Sandy from Paramed for her years of care and friendship; thank you to Kasia the RN, and the entire second floor staff at Nithview Longterm Care for their compassionate care.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
