Obituary of Rev. Herbert Anglin Horsey

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 89.

Survived by his loving wife, Joan, and his children, Susan (Gianni Zinni) and John (Joyce Roth). Missed by Joan's children, Kathy Macdonald and Lenny Macdonald (Lori). Loving grandfather to Jacob Neff (Jenny), Madeline Neff (Jon Robillard), Hannah Neff (Chris Ostic), and Reggie Zinni and great-grandfather to Isaac, Isobel, Charlie, and Norah.

Predeceased by his wife, Judy; parents, Richard and Ruth; and sister, Mary.

Herb was born and raised in Montreal. He completed a BSc at McGill University and then an LTh at Huron College. Herb was ordained an Anglican priest in 1963. He served as a parish priest in the diocese of Ottawa, where he and Judy started raising their family.

In the late 70s, Herb made a career shift to teach at Conestoga College in Stratford and later Kitchener. On retirement, he served as interim priest in a number of parishes in the diocese of Huron.

Herb had many interests, from canoeing, cycling, and skiing, to a life-long fascination with trains. Herb had a beautiful voice and sang in choirs all his life, including 28 years with the Grand Philharmonic Choir. He also loved poolside family BBQs.

Herb and Joan enjoyed travel and spending time with family and friends in Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Florida.

Herb’s family gratefully acknowledges the care and efforts of all the PSWs who have kindly helped in recent years.
