Obituary of Robert "Bruce" Campbell
Bruce passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the age of 94.
Beloved husband of Jeannette Campbell (nee Ewart), married for 70 years. Dear Father of Brian Campbell (Melody Collis), Susan Mason (Glen) and Paul Campbell (Wendy).
Loving, fun grandfather of Natasha Bruce, Molly Campbell (Reid Merriman), Robert Campbell, Max Diehl (Lorelle) and Elizabeth Campbell.
Extra special great grandfather of Fletcher Paul Merriman and Ciara and Halle Richards.
Predeceased by his parents Imogene (nee Derby) and Wilfrid Anderson Campbell as well as his sister Doris Louise Bailey.
Bruce was born on April 15, 1930 in Toronto, Ontario where he grew up. He attended the University of Toronto graduating with an Engineering Degree in Mining. Bruce had a long and varied career. This included ten years working as a Personnel Manager at the Toronto Star. His work in the mining industry led to opportunities throughout Canada, Australia and South Africa.
Bruce spread happiness everywhere he went. He had a razor sharp wit and curious mind. He was a legendary storyteller where the facts were never as important as the flavour. We will remember with great fondness his love of Headframes, Baked Alaska and his family. His happy place was being on Maple Lake at the cottage which he built using a store bought handyman book.
A private family service has been held. Interment Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, Ontario.
