Obituary of Ethel Agnes Nentwig

NENTWIG, Ethel

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on Saturday morning, September 21, 2024. Beloved wife of Elmer who pre-deceased her on February 5, 1987. Devoted mother of her son Perry MacLean (Annette) of Maryhill, treasured Nana to Brittany Quarrey (Sam) of Ariss and Kirsten Armstrong (Justin) of Kitchener. Blessed Great Nana of Claire and Jude Armstrong and baby Quarrey coming in December.  Ethel is survived by her brother Ron Tucker (Sue) of Vancouver and sister Jean Marshall of Waterloo.  She was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She will be fondly remembered by Eileen Fennell (Glenn), and grandchildren Holly, Amanda and Tyler.  She was so thankful to be part of the Nentwig “Clan” and will be greatly missed by the family.

Ethel is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Norma and Chester Cluett, her sister Betty Kinat, and brother-in-law Don Marshall.

Ethel was born in St. Philips, Newfoundland on October 19, 1936.  She was the second of five children.

After finishing her high school education, she obtained her Teaching degree in Newfoundland.  She taught in Bell Island for a year and then she moved to Ontario.  She secured a position with Waterloo Trust which later became Canada Trust and worked in Customer Relations and Investment Sales until her retirement 30 years later.  She had many customers who raved about her level of service.  In fact, she used her skills filing income tax for many.

Ethel was a faithful member of the New Apostolic Church on Margaret Avenue for many years.  She had an unwavering faith.  Her family and church community brought her the greatest joy.

Special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Health center who treated Ethel with such kindness and gave her special care for almost six years.  The family had much peace knowing that she was in good hands.

Friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, September 27th at The New Apostolic Church, 160 Margaret Avenue, Kitchener at 3:00pm.  The funeral service will be at 4:00 pm, following visitation.  As expressions of sympathy donations to the church’s mission fund: NAC Foreign Extension or flowers may be arranged through Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S.
