Obituary of Lotte Auguste Holznagel

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Wellington Terrace on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the age of 95.

Dearly missed by her son Christian (Cindy) and her daughter Veronica (Paul) Schambers; her grandchildren Adam, Claire, and Colin; and her sister Anni Rybicki. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Heinz.

Lotte came to Canada with Heinz in 1957 to start a new life. They were members of the Concordia Club and Bethel Lutheran Church. She was a longtime employee of Renison College while Heinz worked many years for Uniroyal. She had a very active social life, taking time to connect with many colleagues and friends. Trips home to Germany were so important to her, to reconnect with her relatives and spend time in her childhood home. Her grandchildren were the centre of her world. She delighted in spending time with them, whether it was outside on a walk or around her kitchen table. Lotte and Heinz led a simple life, filled with love, laughter, and wonderful memories.

Lotte’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Wellington Terrace for the exceptional care and compassion provided to her over the last four years.

Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Lotte at a Celebration of Life Reception at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
