Obituary of Ruth Elaine Jill Squires
With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Jill on October 3, 2024, at The Cook Family Residence at Hospice Waterloo, in her 73rd year after a beautiful fall afternoon spent outdoors with her family.
Jill leaves her loving husband Denis, daughters Corinne Adams and her sons Henry and William of St. Catharines, Christine Squires (Michael Huber) and their daughter Elise of Waterloo, son Paul of Telegraph Creek, British Columbia, and niece Deborah Fast (Mark) of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, Predeceasing Jill were her mother, Lilian Dessler (née Magill), her father Lloyd Dessler, her sisters Janice Dessler and Lois Lamble, and her extended siblings Don and Margot Peachey.
The heart of our family, our beautiful, gentle and endlessly kind wife, mother and friend, is gone following a sudden and deeply cruel illness, the sole dissonant note at the end of a life of symphony.
With her kindness and generosity, her love of the arts including theatre, ballet and the opera, her remarkable talents for cooking, entertaining and couture, and her careers supporting the development of medical imaging technology and writing technical proposals, Jill was the best of us. While our heartbreak may settle, we will miss her in all the days left to us.
In accordance with Jill’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service though a Celebration of Life is intended for a later date.
We thank Dr. Tang-Wai, his neurological team and the caring staff of Toronto Western Hospital, and the dedicated staff at The Gies Family Centre at Hospice Waterloo Region for their devoted care.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Hospice Waterloo Region would be sincerely appreciated by our family.
