On Friday October 25th, Ann M. Kittler left this earth to meet her Maker.
She had three loves in her life (1) the Lord, (2) her family, and (3) mathematics. All three played an important role in her life.
Her Faith was an integral part of her and she never wavered in her trust in the Lord’s plan for us all. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and always donated her time as needed.
Her family brought her endless joy in her life, and she was a wonderful mother and wife. The pain of her loss cannot be expressed in words.
Her ability in mathematics was evident early on in her life. It led to a scholarship in France, and later another scholarship in the United States.
She was the first woman to get a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Toronto, and she worked for IBM in New York and later she came back to Ontario where she taught at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto.
Her kindness to a friend and co-worker at IBM led to a blind date with her future husband. It was love at first sight and Ann and her husband George never looked back. They met in late May and were married in mid-October of the same year. They both knew from the initial meeting that they were meant for each other. Over their 57 years of marriage their love and affection for each other only grew.
Both Ann and George, enjoyed teaching and sharing their knowledge with their students. Ann really enjoyed her opportunity to teach abroad in Germany, and for the US Army after retirement.
Ann believed that how we treat each other matters, and so she was kind to whomever she met. Forever cheerful and grateful for her family and the blessings in her life.
She is survived by her husband George, her children Helen & Eric, and her grandchildren Amy & Andrew.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street. S., Waterloo on November 8th 2024 at 11am followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room.
Cremation will be held before the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Trillium Lutheran Church or to a local charity may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S. Waterloo at www.erbgood.com
She will be missed by whomever met her and she was endlessly kind and wonderful to everyone. Her legacy is being kind, cheerful, and grateful until the end.
Those closest to her will feel her loss for quite some time.
We love miss you xo
