Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Swartzentruber

Passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the age of 94.

Devoted mother of Ed (Carol), Tom (Catherine Stalford) and Corinne Allendorf (Dave).  Beloved Grandma of Dan (Kit), Amanda (Josh), Dane (Kelsie) and Ryan (Shae).  Great-grandma to Kurt and Felix.  Jean is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Joyce Collard (Kaye), Glen Cressman (Ruth), Lyle Cressman (Karen), Eileen Freeman (Willis) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Ray Swartzentruber in 1997, her brother Ken Cressman (Helen), parents Zenas and Mabel Cressman, step-mother Eloise Cressman, by her Swartzentruber brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester (Erma), Edith Erb (Mel), Lloyd (Ida) and Omar (Ada), and by her special friend Peter Majanovic.

Jean was born in New Hamburg and lived most of her life in Waterloo.  She was a longtime and active member of Erb Street Mennonite Church.  She was a distributor of Stanley Home Products for over 40 years.  In her spare time, Jean was an avid and talented seamstress. 

A private interment at Erb St. Mennonite Cemetery will be held.

Memorial visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, December 12^th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  The memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life and faith will be held at Erb St. Mennonite Church, 131 Erb St. W., Waterloo on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11 a.m.  Reception will follow.
