Obituary of Catherine Stella Thiel

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 27, 2024 at the age of 94.

Dear mother of Kate Lange (Gerald), Cindy Thiel, and Paul Thiel (Nancy Plato). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Eric Lange, Kathryn Garland, Reid, Madelaine and Wilson Thiel. Cherished Great Grandmother of Cian, Lila, Luca, Gabe, Leo, and Iris. Treasured sister of Paul Thomas, Nancy McDougall, and Chuck Thomas.

Predeceased by her husband Gerald Thiel, her parents Royden and Helen (Kunkel) Thomas, her brother Robert Thomas, and sister Jane Goll.

Catherine spent her career in the insurance industry working for Mutual Life and Equitable Life until her retirement. Her faith was reflected in the way she lived her life as a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and the Catholic Women’s League.

She enjoyed British history, reading, especially historical fiction, playing cards, and catching up with friends.  Catherine was happiest when spending time with her family and her circle of friends at the retirement residence at the Village of University Gates.

Thanks to the supportive staff at University Gates, ParaMed Health Care and the Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. We are grateful for the care you provided to our mother during her final days.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home on Wednesday December 4^th, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday December 5^th, 2024 at 11am, with a reception following the service. Private family interment to follow at Parkview cemetery. A livestream of the service will be available on the Erb & Good website.
