Obituary of Sylvia Johanne Meadus

Sylvia Johanne Meadus (Seiler) passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital with her beloved husband Paul of 46 years and her daughters Carrie and Hollie at her bedside. Sylvia was a devoted wife to Paul, a loving mother to Carrie (Ben) and Hollie (Trevor) and a wonderful and generous Oma to Aria and Kristina.

Sylvia will be greatly missed by her sisters Monica (Kevin), Linda (Michael) and Anita (Steve), nieces and nephews and extended family. Predeceased by her mother Hilde Dannemann and father Ludwig Seiler and her precious son Paul as well as her furry friends Mitzie, Ben and Rosie.

Sylvia was a remarkable woman with a fierce love and a contagious laugh.  Sylvia was born at KW Hospital on Monday, October 17th, 1960. She was a domestic engineer and held various positions throughout the years at Schwaben Club, Dairy Queen, Canadian Tire, Towers, Sobeys, the St. Jacob’s Farmer’s Market occasionally alongside her husband Paul, Price Chopper and food services at Laurier where she met the best of friends.

Sylvia met her sweetheart Paul at the young age of 17 and had three children Carrie, Paul and Hollie.

In her younger years, Sylvia danced at the Schwaben club, loved to crochet, knit and sew. She absolutely loved pig figurines, they were her favourite and she received many throughout the years from loving family members and it turned into a collection.

Sylvia hosted many parties, and she would go above and beyond to make each special occasion magical with treats, tons of food and big bouquets of balloons that she would make herself. Sylvia was an avid traveler. Sylvia’s favourite thing to say was, “which way to the beach?”  She travelled to Germany, St. Marten, Mexico, Las Vegas, Cuba, Cottaging at Sauble Beach, Jamaica, North Carolina and many special trips as a family to Niagara Falls that became a second home.

Sylvia’s endless support and generosity knew no bounds, she taught us to be kind, loyal, strong and was truly an inspiration and extraordinary woman, wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend.

Thank you, Sylvia, for being such a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and keeping this family close. You are the most caring and giving person I know. I love you so much. -Paul
