Obituary of Ethel Bezruki

Ethel Bezruki (Dryden) of Kitchener, ON, passed away peacefully with family members at her side on December 2, 2024.

Ethel, or better known as Nan for the last forty years, was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. At the age of 26, she immigrated to Canada on an Italian streamliner in 1957 for a better life, and what a better life she had!

Ethel was a seamstress for Arrow Shirts in Kitchener, but her love was dancing at the local night clubs on the weekends. That was where she would meet her true love, a great dancer himself, Casey Bezruki. They would marry very shortly after and start a family together, where they would have two children: daughter Bonnie (Donnie) Wyatt, and son Kenneth (Catherine) Bezruki.

Nan was truly in her happy place whenever she was with her grandchildren, Billy Wyatt (Amy), Krystal (Brett Catto), Katrina (James McHaig), Kyle Bezruki, Megan Bezruki (Brock Emrich), and Eric Bezruki (Alyssa Koehler); plus her four great-granddaughters, Charlee Wyatt, Blayke Catto, Scottie and Layne McHaig; and her two great-grandsons, Dryden Catto and Austin Wyatt.

A special mention to her niece back in Scotland, Ellen Graham and her family Scott, Sharon and Angela (Eddie Boggis) and her “I am going to a hockey game” family, Debi and Steve Garibaldi and their family, Ryan, Justin, Joel and Jordan.

Ethel was predeceased by husband Casey Bezruki, parents Ella and George Dryden, and in-laws Paul and Catherine Bezruki; brothers-in-law Stan Bezruki (Joan), Bob Bezruki (Elsie), sisters-in-law Angela (Art Lasik), Jean (Don Cybulski), Josephine (John Iza), Leona (Harold Johnson), and Myrna Bezruki.

Survived by her brother-in-law Paul Bezruki and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces in Canada and also in Scotland.

In keeping with Ethel’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Private family interment to take place at Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener.

In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations in Ethel’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society may be arranged through Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.
