Obituary of Emil Behr

Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the age of 90.

Cherished and beloved husband of Ursula (nee Danielzik) Behr, married for 67 years. Loving father to Petra (James) Miller and Klaus (Mary) Behr.  Dear Opa to Madeline (Craig) Kuchma, Matthew (Samantha) Behr, Katrina Behr (Sean Leaver) and the late Alexander Behr (2024); will be fondly remembered by his two great-granddaughters Klara and Lilly.

Emil bravely immigrated to Canada with his family in 1965, seeking new opportunities.  They arrived in Halifax from Germany, moving quickly to Vernon, BC. Seeking new opportunities, the family then moved onto Kitchener a few months later finding themselves immersed in traditional German culture.  Emil was born in Germany in 1934, he achieved the remarkable accomplishment of becoming a licensed journeyman in bricklaying in Germany at the young age of 15. He dedicated many years to his craft as a skilled bricklayer in Canada.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 3 – 5 p.m. Cremation will have taken place and the family will have a private interment at a later date.
