Obituary of Peter Michael Messer

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the Palliative Care Unit at Grand River Hospital Freeport Campus on Friday, December 6, 2024.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Johanne (nee Deyell); his daughters Jen (Chris) Warden and Kim (Kevin) Hallman; and his granddaughters Brooke and Blaire. He will also be missed by his brothers George (Doris) and Phil (Marlene), and his sister Linda (Peter) Davis; and his brother-in-law Art (Jane) Deyell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by George Sr. and Wilma Messer.

Peter was born and raised in Waterloo. He loved to be at home around the pool, gardening, fishing, and loved the outdoors. He was also an avid woodworker and loved to fix things. Peter had a “tell it like it is” attitude and could always be relied on for his honest opinions. He enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbours and was lovingly known as the “neighbourhood watch”. He looked after everyone so well and will be very missed by all who got to know him.

Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo. Details for a celebration of Peter’s life will be announced in the new year.
