Obituary of Rev. Dr. Mervin G. Saunders
Mervin G. Saunders, MDiv, DMin, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, a few days short of his 85th birthday.
Merv is survived by Helen, his beloved wife of 61 years; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Sonya (Evan), Michèle (Wayne A.), and Lianne (Wayne B.); and four grandchildren, Ariane, Paige, Ronan and Brandon. He will be greatly missed by his brother David (Alberta), sister Arlene (Bob), brother-in-law Ralph (Linda) and sister-in-law Sherrill (Gordon), and a legion of family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Viola, and an infant brother, Richard.
Merv was a deep thinker, a charismatic preacher, a world traveller, an amazing musician, the best husband and father and grandpa, a true friend, and a man after God’s own heart.
The family thanks Rev. Dr. Das Sydney for his sincere friendship, and the staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home and the Village at University Gates for their wonderful care and kindness.
A private interment will take place on December 27, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday April 19, 2025 at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home. The time of the service will be announced at a later date.
