Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at The Village at University Gates, Waterloo on Sunday, December 15, 2024, age 93. Beloved husband of the late Ann (nee McGregor) Orth.
Survived by Brother Earl (Connie), Children David (Ela) and Jennifer (Doug). Grandchildren Kelvie (Dan), Ian (Hayley), Ainsley (Mitch), Ava, Jayden. Great Grandchildren Maggie, Dallas, Zoe.
Predeceased by loving Wife of 64 years, Marilyn Ann (nee McGregor) Parents Norman and Hazel Orth, Brother Ben (Joan), Sister Phylis (Dick), Sister Lori.
Les was born on February 22, 1931, in Kitchener to his parents Hazel (nee McKnight) and Norman Orth. He was a man of strong faith, a long-time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Les was one of the original founding members, and former Chairman of the Board of the Lutherwood Foundation (now Starling Community Services). He enjoyed using his skills to assist others in his community.
Les was employed with Mutual Life of Canada for 43 years as a Compensation Officer. During his off time, he enjoyed taking time with his family at the cottage in Point Clarke. For over 30 years, Les hosted the ‘Point Clarke Invitational” golf tournament, an event characterized more by laughter and friendship than competition. An avid lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, Les cheered for the team through every high and low, patiently endured the hard times and never lost faith.

The funeral service will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John St W, Waterloo, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Joel Kuhl officiating. A reception will follow in the church reception hall. Cremation to follow.
