Obituary of Heinz Reiter

Heinz Reiter passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the age of 85, at Chartwell Retirement Home, Kitchener.

Heinz is survived by his son Heinz Peter Reiter of Sydney, Australia, and grandchildren Max, Oscar and Sally; son Rene Reiter (Carolyn Gough), and grandsons Jakob and Zachary.

Heinz was predeceased by his parents Heinz and Maria Reiter, brothers Rudy, Ervin and Richard of Munich, Germany, spouse Anny Vonmoss, and partners Lydia Tuchel and Beth Phyliss Waring.

Heinz immigrated to Canada in 1958 after completing his hospitality training at the Regina Palast Hotel, Munich, working for many years at the Celebrity Club in Toronto as a maître d. After meeting Anny at the Toronto German Club, they got married and had two sons. They purchased the Rose Court Motel in Stratford in 1972, hosting hundreds of guests over the 22 years of ownership. Later living in Shakespeare, Stratford, and Kitchener, Heinz was at his best when hosting guests and loved a good dinner party. His lifelong passion for fishing found him baiting a hook from Doe Lake, Ontario, to Lake Huron, Florida, Mexico, and even Kenya. Travel was his other passion, travelling extensively to the Caribbean, Europe, Australia, East Africa and Japan. An avid Mercedes Benz fan, Heinz found great pleasure in driving. Later in life, he enjoyed weekly dinners at local restaurants with dear friends.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with memories shared at 4:00 p.m.
